Jimmy Dale Whisenhunt went to be with our Lord in heaven on July 20, 2017, at the age of 84, in Bartlesville, OK at The Journey Home hospice house.

Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol Whisenhunt; three children, Brenda Eckenfels and spouse Mark, Owasso, Susan Luster, Tulsa, Claudia Eckenfels and spouse Mike, Skiatook; nine grandchildren, Holly Eckenfels Barker and spouse Todd, Kyle, TX, Kara Eckenfels Wells and spouse Ryan, Yukon, OK, Kristen Eckenfels, Tulsa, James Eckenfels, Owasso, Natalie Eckenfels, Tulsa, Daniel Eckenfels, Skiatook, Derek Eckenfels, Skiatook, Maddie Luster, Tulsa, Sara Luster, Tulsa, and two great grandchildren, Easton Barker, Kyle, TX, Kate Barker, Kyle, TX.

 

Jim was born on November 24, 1932 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to Wiley and Emma Whisenhunt. He attended Charles Page high school, graduating in 1950. He worked at John Zink from 1963 -1969, and was an inside sales engineer with Vinson supply company for 22 years and retired in 1991. 

 

Jim enjoyed sharing his passion for lake Tenkiller with others by opening his lake home to all, teaching them to ski, and taking his grandkids fishing.

He was an active member of Blackgum Baptist Church while living at lake Tenkiller from 1997-2008. Moving back to Tulsa, they transferred their membership to Woodland Acres Baptist Church.
