Ruth McMahan, 94 of Owasso, OK went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, surrounded by her loving children.

She was born August 25, 1923 in Tulsa, Ok. To Mitchell D. Atchley and Grace G. (Roberts)  Atchley.

Ruth’s first love was Jesus.  One of her great joys was sharing her faith with others.  Ruth married her first husband LeRoy Sebastian at the age of 15 and from that union came 7 children.  She took great pride serving along side him for 42 years in the role of Pastors wife.  She and LeRoy loved harmonizing together and spreading the word of God through music.

Ruth was quite the lady she never left the house without her face on and dressed to the nines.  Everyone who knew her always expected her to be in her Sunday best, hair fixed to perfection, red lips, painted  nails and high heel shoes.  It wasn’t unusual to see her mowing the yard or hanging clothes on the line in her 3 inch heels.

Ruth was the consummate hostess.  The home was always immaculate and ready for company.  She lived by the motto, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”.  She also taught her children that any job worth doing was a job worth doing right.  The most important lesson Ruth instilled in her children was love for God, love for family and love for those less fortunate.

Her home was always open to family, friends and even transients who were in need of help.  She was a giver, tithing was always her priority and through that she taught us all that we could never out give God.  Even though she lived a very modest life she was always willing to give anything she had to help anyone in need.

As a mother she loved her children unconditionally and set that example for all to follow.  Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were the joy of her life.  Ruth gave birth to 7 children, from those children came 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren

On May 5th, 1984, Ruth married John McMahan in which they shared 11 wonderful years together.  Their union expanded the family with 2 more children who also gave her 2 grandsons and one great grandson .During their life together they spent many hours watching Jeopardy, working crossword puzzles, gardening, playing Uno with close friends and traveling around the United States.  The most important thing they shared was their love of God.  Every day started and ended sharing a devotional and prayer.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children LeRoy Sebastion, and her second husband and love of her life, John McMahan, her first born son Roy Lee, youngest son Timothy Lynn Sebastian and son-in-law Norman Ramsey.

Ruth is survived by daughters Juanita Ramsey and Angela (Jim) Hess of Owasso, OK, Ginger (Rick) Palmer of Farmington, NM and Anna (Terry favorite son-in-law) Saxon of Coppell, TX. And Son Dannie (Barbara) of Phoenix, AZ: daughter in-law Judy Sebastian of Land O’Lakes, FL: stepchildren, Lois (Bob) Phillips and John (Heather) McMahan; 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army or First United Methodist Church of Owasso, OK.
