Susan Leigh Wilkerson Davies died in her sleep on April 30, 2017. Born on March 16, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Susan grew up and thrived in Tulsa where she graduated high school from Holland Hall in 1971 and started college at Oral Roberts University soon after. During that time, she and her parents (Tink and Sue Wilkerson) and sister (Debbie Wilkerson Consedine) joined First United Methodist Church, where as an active member over 25 years, Susan's stellar vocal talents as a featured soloist contributed greatly to worship in the church. In addition to her involvement in Choir and Madrigal Dinners at the church, in 1976, she also helped coordinate a 100th anniversary celebration of founding the church.

In 1972 Susan transferred from ORU to Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, Virginia, where she continued to share her musical gifts in the college choir, graduating in 1975, with a BS in Sociology. During Christmas break of her senior year, while visiting Arkansas with her roommate, Susan met David G. Davies. They were married in late summer of 1975. Susan and David were blessed with two adorable children, Samuel Wilkerson Davies, in 1977, and Meredith Alexander Davies in 1980. While her children grew, Susan stayed active in her church and also lent her phenomenal administrative talents to many endeavors as well as political campaigns. In 1990 working alongside her husband, she was part of a successful Oklahoma gubernatorial campaign for David Walters which earned her a key position on the governor's staff.

Although many life stresses ended their marriage, Susan remained connected to both sides of her family, celebrating special occasions and holidays whenever she was able.

In her spare time, Susan loved to be outdoors, shooting skeet on Petit Jean Mountain in Arkansas, or preparing delicious feasts to entertain family and friends. Her generous spirit and big heart supported her love of hospitality. She was ever a generous and affectionate mother to her children and loving grandmother to her grandson, Samuel Davies Spray, who was the light of her life.

In her salad days, Susan earned the nickname, "Riverboat Queen", as an enthusiastic and skilled card player, enjoying Bridge or bidding "double nil" in Spades, notwithstanding horrified looks from her partners!

Susan was predeceased by her parents, D.B. Wilkerson, Jr. (Tink) and Sue Wilkerson, and her son, Samuel Wilkerson Davies.

Her family holds a sure confidence that she now celebrates a blessed reunion with her beloved son, Sam, and precious others among the great cloud of witnesses.

Among those continuing to cherish her memory, Susan is survived by her daughter, Meredith Davies Spray (Brian), her grandson, Samuel Davies Spray, Conway, Arkansas; her sister, Debbie Wilkerson Consedine; nieces and nephews and many beloved cousins and friends.

A service in celebration of her life in the risen Lord will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Harvard Avenue Christian Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Memorials may be made to Central Oklahoma Humane Society www.okhumane.org or a charity of choice.
