Skyler Wayne Holman was born May 16, 1979 to Kyle and Tina Holman in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on October 4th, 2014 at the age of 35.
Skyler was raised in Owasso until graduation. In all aspects of his life, Skyler emphasized dedication, hard work, discipline, and passion. He applied these in his faith, his family, his friends, and the sports he participated in.
He wrestled at Owasso Elementary School where he won 6 straight State Championships as well as 6 Tulsa Nationals Championships and 5 US Open Championships. During Junior High School he won State Championships all 3 years and was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler in the State of Oklahoma. During high school he transferred to Broken Arrow where he was State runner up once and won 2 State Championships going undefeated his senior year achieving the Most Outstanding Wrestler in Oklahoma, ranking him number 2 in the Nation. He graduated from high school in 1998.
Skyler then attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill on a full wrestling scholarship. As a freshman he won several tournaments, winning the ACC Championship and achieving the Atlantic Coast Conference Outstanding Wrestler Award. After this he transferred to Oklahoma State University where he won two Big Twelve Championships and was ranked as high as number 2 in the nation. His team won the National Championship and Skyler gained the National All American Status. He then graduated from college in 2003.
After College Skyler taught in many wrestling clinics and coached wrestlers around the state as well as participating in the sport of Mixed Martials Arts. Skyler also loved to hunt, hanging many of his trophies in their home. He went to work for the American Heritage bank in Sapulpa, and worked there for over 10 years becoming a Vice President.
Skyler was baptized in August 2000, into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn by Brother RJ Cramer. He married, his bride, Angela Taylor of Welling on February 3, 2007 in Tahlequah, OK. He and Angela were married for 7 years. They made their home in Sapulpa being blessed with 2 children, Taylor Wayne on August 26, 2010 and Aubrey Kay on June 11, 2012. He spent most of his personal time loving his wife, raising his children and serving the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Phyllis Jean Holman.
He is survived by his wife Angela and two children, son Taylor and daughter Aubrey of the home. Grandfather Jerry Holman of Cordell. Grandparents Dalton and Karen Holmes of Sallisaw. Father Kyle Holman of Owasso. Mother Tina Holman of Sallisaw. Sister Mandi Bailey, her husband Nick and her children Alec, Cade, Colt, Kila and Lane of Sallisaw ok. A multitude of family, friends and loved ones.
Visitation will be held October 07, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Adamscrest/Reynolds Funeral Home chapel.
Service will be Wednesday October 08, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chieftain Center in Sapulpa
