Carol Dunning Obituary

Carol Ann (Hunter) Dunning passed from this life on June 14, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 89.

Carol was born on a farm near Pocahontas, Iowa and attended rural country school in Dover Township near Fonda, Iowa.  She lived on a farm near Fonda, Iowa and attended High School at Pocahontas, Iowa.  After graduating she went to school in Omaha and later was hired by Mid-Continent Airlines, which became part of Braniff Airways, Working in Kansas City, Chicago, Sioux Falls, SD, Tulsa, Ok and New Orleans.  She met and later married David R. Dunning of Tulsa, Ok and they lived in New Orleans until after the birth of their son William David who was allergic to the climate and they moved back to Tulsa.  They were married November 3, 1954 in Algiers, LA.  When Braniff Airways moved their reservations office to Kansas City, she went to work for Cities Service Oil Co. for a few months, but was back with the airlines, this time Central/Frontier Airlines until she was laid off, only to be put to work with American Airlines, but Continental Airlines offered her a full=time job and she worked with them for 25 years in several capacities.  All toll she has forty years with the Airlines.  She and David traveled all over the world by air and ship touching every continent.  She and her Mother took many travel excursions until her Mothers health failed. She worked with the Airline (all Airlines) group for many years, enjoying those she had known at the old Tulsa Airport as well as the new Tulsa international Airport.  She worked in the DC-3 age to the super sonic jets age and loved her work.

Carol was born to C. Earl Hunter (deceased) and Bernice E. (Peterson) Hunter (deceased) one of six children, Jean Stoelting (deceased), Charles (deceased), Lowell (deceased), Alice Ricklief and Lyle Hunter.  She is survived by her husband David and son William and wife Kimberly and daughter Brianna.  She has eight nieces and four nephews and many great-nieces and nephews who were always a joy to her.
