Marilyn Jane (Hunt) Melton

Marilyn Jane Melton passed from this life on December 31, 2018 in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years.  Marilyn was born October 16, 1940 in Byars, Oklahoma, to parents Millard Leroy Hunt and Amy Priscilla Benge Hunt.  She grew up in Sulphur, Oklahoma and in high school moved to Tulsa where she graduated from Will Rogers High School. 

Marilyn met her husband while working as a secretary for Forrester Steel Manufacturing.  She thought he was cute and it was love at first sight.  They married on October 7, 1961.  She was a home maker and seamstress for many years.  She also worked in insurance and as a bank teller before working and retiring from Wal-Mart in 2009.  She was a Perpetual Member of the Collinsville Lodge of Order of the Eastern Stars.

She spent most of her free time with family.  She enjoyed watching all of her grandchildren’s many activities.  Marilyn was also a big fan of Johnny Cash.

Marilyn is survived by her children;  Susan and Chris Turner of Broken Arrow, Frank and Dana Melton of Talala and Dawna and Brett Martin of Collinsville.  Grandchildren; Brad Turner of Broken Arrow, B.J. and Sara Sappington of Sperry, Kyla and Grant Dickinson of Coweta, Amanda Sappington of Tulsa, Justin Melton of Talala, Faith Melton of Talala, Jakob Martin of Collinsville and Dylan Martin of Collinsville, Great-Grandchild; Aubrey Sappington of Sperry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. Melton, Sr. (July 20, 1999) and her parents Leroy and Priscilla Hunt.
