Thomas J. Potts or (T. J., as many knew him) passed from this life on September 17, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years. Thomas was born November 19, 1930 in Muleshoe County, Texas to parents Hughey A. Potts and Clara H. Warwick Potts. After his graduation from Wagoner High School, T.J. married the love of his life, Julia Norman. They lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma where he attended Oklahoma State University on an agricultural scholarship. The couple moved to Tulsa to start their family, eventually having one daughter and two sons. Tom spent his entire career as a chemist/gas analyst for Sun Oil Company. His avocations included golf, pool, and armchair football. In addition, he enjoyed hunting quail, duck and deer, some of this taking place on his parents’ original homestead in Wagoner, Oklahoma. In his later years, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and doting over his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Burchfield, his son, Kevin Potts, his son-in-law Gary Burchfield, and his daughter-in-law Janet Potts, widow of son, Jeff Potts. Tom has five grandchildren, Becky Dyson, Mandy Cooper, Elizabeth Harwood, Jolee Potts and Kyle Potts; and eight great-grandchildren, Brayden Dyson, Addison Harwood, Aiden Harwood, Brooks Dyson, Hunter Dyson, Dylan Dyson, Colin Harwood, and Olivia Cooper. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 wonderful years, Julia Potts, and his son, Jeff Potts. Memorial contributions may be donated to Clarehouse on behalf of Thomas J. Potts.
