Wanda Jean (Stephenson) Evington was born January 23, 1932 in Henryetta, Oklahoma; the daughter of Paul Jones and Ester Myra (Vetters) Stephenson. She grew up and attended school in Henryetta where she raised her children.
Wanda left Oklahoma in 1972 and resided in several states but her heart was always in Oklahoma. She was a true "Okie". Prior to returning to Oklahoma, she lived in Denver, Colorado where she worked for the Federal Center. In 1988 her wish came true, she was finally able to move home to her beloved state of Oklahoma.
Wanda was a Homemaker who loved to travel. She had an undeniable wit and when she traveled in her RV, she would often say ,"It is so small, you need to go outside to change your mind." She wasa Baptist that stood by her beliefs. Wanda was a devoted, caring mother who was always there when her children needed her. She possessed a strong will and determination that carried her through life.
Wanda passed away on December 3, 2019 in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of eighty seven years.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Paul Edwin, Walter Lynn and James Dale Stephenson and one sister Patsy Ruth Casey.
Wanda is survived by her devoted partner, Harold Taylor, daughter Dianna Kay Payton and husband Randy of Broken Arrow, Ok. Robert Dwight Evington, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Owasso; 1 brother Billy Joe Stephenson and wife DeAnna of Broken Arrow, Ok., 2 sisters Charlotte Ann Cornelius of Boerne, Texas and Evelyn Jane Thompson and husband Mike of Bandera, Texas; 5 grandchildren Shannon Morgan and wife Kristi of Wagner, Ok, Heather Laney and husband Kevin of Shawnee, KS, John Evington and wife Kathy of Owasso, Ok, Zachery Evington of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Megan Evington of Owasso, Oklahoma; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
