Everett Jones Obituary

Everett Eugene Jones was born on the 19th of September 1937 in Tulsa General Hospital to Granville Daniel and Alice May (Shaw) Jones. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa where he met the love of his life Judy Ann Thurman. They married on the 7th of December 1956 in Tulsa and enjoyed raising their three children and 56 years of marriage before Judy’s passing in 2013.

A young Everett always worked hard at any job he took on. His parents owned a few restaurants in and around Tulsa and his first job was as a dishwasher about 13; then in high school a cook. After high school he parked cars at B&B a downtown parking garage. After getting married he started to work for O. G. & E. That only lasted until the end of the training sessions when he learned he would not be a lineman. So he quit and went to work for the City of Tulsa Parks Division. When an opening came up in the Traffic Division he took it and 28 years later retired as the Traffic Manager. Over the years Everett worked several second jobs to better provide for his growing family. First was with the Tulsa Auxiliary Police Department; which lead him into being a Security Guard for Froug’s Department Store and Yale Bowl. For about 6 months Everett worked at a boat dealership to repair small engines for them and one week was a salesman and actually sold a boat that brought him a nice commission. After retiring from the City, he drove a school bus for TPS and then was a school crossing guard.

Everett’s love for being outside gave him his favorite hobby! FISHING!! He really excelled at Bass Tournaments and during the late 70’s was almost talked into going “PRO”. But he decided it would not be worth being away from his family for maybe weeks at a time.

Everett became a Christian at a young age and he loved being an usher at nearly every church that he and Judy were members of. He was the grounds and building maintenance at Berean Baptist Church for a few years and loved working for The Lord. He loved to kid or tease those he loved and had a quick wit to share his humor. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Everett joins his parents, his three siblings, his beloved wife Judy, daughter Katherine and step- daughter Desiree in a new adventure now. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon of Tulsa, son Danny and wife Lori of Jenks, daughter Jacqueline and spouse Jimmy of Henryetta, beloved niece Naomi and spouse Gary of Broken Arrow, and step-children Vanessa and spouse Brian, Vince and wife Stacy of Sapulpa and Steve of Owasso. Grandchildren Kayleigh “KJ” and spouse Christopher Samuel “Sam” of Jenks, Colby and wife Hannah of Bixby, Jason and wife Kristin of Reno, NEV, Aubrie Dawn, and Chandra of Tulsa; Great Grandchildren Georgia Katherine, Boston Callahan, Owen, Emmaline, Lillian, Derrion, and Peyton; Great Great Grandchildren Zaylah Renee and Dequandre Devaughn Jr. Seven step-grandchildren and 16 step -Great Grandchildren.
