Obituary

George A. Martin, Jr. passed from this life on May 16, 2022 at the age of 69 from cancer. He was surrounded by his kids, grandkids, great grandkids, sisters, nieces & nephews during his final days. George was born September 20, 1952 to George and Mildred Martin in Mt. Vernon, OH. George joined the Marine Corps right out of high school and served in Vietnam. He was proud of his service to his country. In the early 1980’s George went to work for the Disabled American Veterans as National Service Officer where he assisted other Veterans with benefits after their service. He retired in the early 2000’s and spent his time on the golf course and in his RV traveling.  George loved his kids and grandkids. He was selfless with the time he gave to them. Always willing to take the grandkids anywhere and everywhere. He was overjoyed to become a Great GP in 2020 when his first great grandchild was born and then again in 2021 when the 2nd one came along. George loved nothing more than to watch his grandkids play sports. It was rare that he missed a game. Family was important to George. He was always there for anyone who called and needed him. Whether it was time or his presence, he would drop it all and come running. He loved unconditionally. George spent many years serving the Lord in his church and by ministering to the inmates at McAlester’s jail. George was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Martin, Sr, his mother, Mildred Taylor Martin Vann and his siter, Margaret Lee Martin Bowers. He is survived by his daughter Merrideth Harper and wife Kaci of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Son Ryan Martin and wife Lori of Berryhill, Oklahoma. Grandkids; Christian Lowery and fiancé Bailee of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Kadi Casillas of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Brandon Harper of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Noah Hill of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Logan Hill and wife Elizabeth of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Aiden and Owen Martin of Berryhill, Oklahoma.
