Guy Peter Griffin went to seep and passed into heaven at 12:50am on Oct. 25th, at his daughter Judith’s house at 537 So. 65th W. Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Guy was born to Walter and Isabelle Griffin on December 3 1936 in Brooklyn, New York.
Guy was a disabled veteran who served his country for 10 straight years. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served on ships as a boiler maker until transferring to serve with the Marines in ground combat. He served in Korea then China and on through the Vietnam War until it ended and he was left emotionally disabled.
In 2000 while living in a Tulsa assisted living facility he met and soon married a widow of 10 years, Violet Franks. She was a feisty 80 yrs. Old and he was 65 years old. They played dominoes and other games until “she caught him”. He was her knight in shinning armor. They had a great two years of doing fun things such as buying and building a collection of miniature light houses, motorcycles and antique cars as well as anything else she wanted. He was a very generous, tenderhearted husband to her until she passed away in December of 2002.
Guy is survived by his two daughters, Judith Girkin and Carolyn Holden, her husband Bill Holden, Grandsons, Edward Girkin and wife Dana, Alford Daniel and wife Tiffany and Thomas Girkin, Great Grandchildren, Rachael and Bryan Palmer and their four sons. As well as nice neighbors that he enjoyed fellowship with and last but not least his faithful little companion “Lady”.
Guy was a true animal lover, he loved horses, dogs, cats and anything else that came up on his porch to eat the cat food that he fed the neighborhood. He even enjoyed and welcomed the mama opossum and her babies as well as the mama raccoon and her babies. There was always food for all.
He was a special giant of a gentle man.
