Gwendolyn Louise Newton was born to Johnnie and Lovetta Perry on November 26, 1964. She attended Tulsa Public Schools, graduating from Tulsa Central High School in 1984. Gwendolyn met James Newton in 1979 and later they were married in 1986 and to this union they had 3 beautiful daughters together. She treasured the times spent with her family and especially with her granddaughter Heavan who she lovingly called “My little piece of heaven”. She cherished their weekly trips to Dollar Tree together.
Gwendolyn passed peacefully from this life on the evening of January 31, 2020, after an unexpected decline in her health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving daughters, family and friends during the last days of her life.
Preceding her in her homecoming is her mother Lovetta Mae Perry, James Beard, Jr., and Bernice Beard (grandparents), W.C. Coats and Atlean Coats (grandparents) Ben Phillips (father in law), Vivian West (sister in law), Nicholas T. Martin and Johnnie J. Perry III (nephews).
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, Husband James Newton, Daughters, Montinett Perry, Brittany Newton and Alexis Newton all of Tulsa, Step-daughter, Tomeka Lampkins of Oklahoma City, Granddaughter, Heavan Johnson, Father, Johnnie Perry, Mother in law, Anna Phillips, Sisters, Debra Woody of Oklahoma City, Patricia Johnson, Nicole Perry and Brother Johnnie J. Perry all of Tulsa. Nieces, Shanta Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Chelsea Perry-Jones (Taijuan), Jamisen Perry and Nephew Jayden Perry. Special friends, Russell Johnson, Kesha Marshall, Lala Joseph and Lasha Hardin. Also, a host of other relatives and friends also survived her.
