Maxine Wallisch Obituary

Maxine Nadine Wallisch passed away March 15, 2023, in Tulsa at the age of 99. She was born November 21, 1923, to Floyd and Peggy Wood. They lived on a farm at Soldier, Kansas. Maxine attended a country school for eight years, and graduated from Soldier High School in 1941. She taught grades 1-8 for three years in country schools and also worked for the Hallmark Co. in Topeka, Kansas. In 1945 she married Lloyd Wallisch. They had two children, Lloyd Lawrence II and Kristy. The family lived in Tulsa in 1953 and later moved to Endicott, New York. They returned to Tulsa in 1961.

Maxine and the children attended St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Maxine loved the church and was active in Bible study and prayer groups. She taught children’s Sunday School classes for years and later joined the church’s Priscilla class. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, sisters Marion and Florence, and brothers Floyd Jr., Richard and Leonard. Survivors include daughter Kristy Wallisch and son-in- Steve Walden of New Orleans, Louisiana; son Lloyd’s fiancee Deborah Jones McClanahan of Kansas City, Missouri; brother-in-law Darrell Wallisch of Littleton, Colorado; nieces and nephews; her dear, caring sisters of the Priscilla class; members of St. Mark’s; supportive Al-Anon friends; and dear neighbors. Maxine loved music, nature, reading, and dogs. She had her little dog, Muffin, for 7 1/2 years; now they are together again.

The family wishes to thank the kind and helpful staff and residents of Heatheridge Assisted Living, where Maxine lived for the past few years, and all of the friends and family who made Maxine’s life brighter every day.
