Mayetta Miller Obituary

Mayetta Francis Miller, 90, of Tulsa and Broken Arrow, Okla., was surrounded by her loving family, when she gained her Angel Wings and went Home to join her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband, Junior, on May 10, 2019.

Mayetta was born on August 12, 1928 in Parnell, Missouri to Charlie and Rebecca Frump.  Mayetta married the love of her life, Arthur “Junior” Miller on December 21, 1946 in Parnell, Missouri.  Mayetta devoted herself to being a very hard working homemaker and a very loving mom to her five children.  Life was always very challenging, as she and her husband traveled from Missouri to Muskogee, to Broken Arrow and other cities, before settling in Tulsa, where Junior worked as a bricklayer.  He later worked up the ranks and became Superintendent for Manhattan Construction Company, while Mayetta held the “fort” down at home with five rambunctious kids.

Mayetta had one of the biggest challenges of her life, when her son, Olin, contracted Guillain Barre’, when he was very young and just like the determined and devoted mom she was, she worked long hours with Olin over many years, to rehabilitate him, until she succeeded and Olin was able to live a fairly normal life after that, even graduating from college with an Accounting degree.  Her second biggest challenge came many years later, when her husband, Junior was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.  Mayetta, being the devoted and loving wife that she was,,was by his side every single day caring for the love of her life until the very end.  Other challenges in our mom’s life was when her daughters Melba and Twyla were diagnosed with Cancer several years ago.  She was always there for both of them as much as possible.

Nothing seemed to ever slow Mayetta down until her later years when she was diagnosed with Acute Dementia,  It was then, four years ago that she moved in with her son, Larry and his wife, Patricia, where she was nurtured and cared for and stayed very active in all their activities, from luncheons after church with their circle of friends, Forever Friends monthly luncheons, birthday celebrations with friends also loved going to The B.A. Senior Center, as well as  watching her great-granddaughters play their Volleyball and Soccer games.

Life was good to Mayetta and God was even greater and we’ll always be thankful for the special times we got to spend with her.

Mayetta was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Junior miller, 2 children, Melba Thomas and Olin Miller.  She was also preceded by her brother Bill Frump and sister Grace Downing, both of Missouri.  She is survived by her brother, Charles Frump of Lynden, Washington and her sisters, Ida Smyser and Beverly Grimit, both of Maryville, Missouri and sister-in-law, Joann Miller of Pontiac, Illinois.  Survived by son, Larry G. Miller & wife Patricia of Broken Arrow, son, Terry L. Miller & wife Jan of Tulsa and daughter, Twyla Miller of Tulsa.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Eric Miller, Todd Miller, Tina Cunningham, Tracey Warnock, Daniel Miller, Sean Miller, Tim Thomas and Toby Thomas, also 21 great grandkids, plus 14 great-great-grandkids, as well as many dear nieces, nephews and many treasured friends.
