Ricky Odell Hopkins
Ricky Odell Hopkins, 64, passed from this life in his home surrounded by family on Monday, June 7, 2021, after a hard-fought battle. He was born in Eufaula, Oklahoma on July 26, 1956, an only child born to Yvonne Marie Hopkins Cox. Rick graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1974.
After high school Rick was sworn into the Army National Guard of Oklahoma where he worked for some time before being honorably discharged. After that Rick attended Connors State College where he earned an associates degree. In 1981 Rick started his career as a law enforcement officer for the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. After leaving his law enforcement career he began working for Storey Wrecker in Tulsa. He enjoyed remodeling and construction work as a hobby in his free time.
Rick was loved dearly by his family, co-workers, and friends. He was a smart, thoughtful, and very tough man with a great sense of humor. He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful son, father, grandfather, husband, cousin, and friend to so many. He was a role-model for many people and will be remembered and missed by everyone who knew him.
Rick is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jenny Hopkins; his mother, Yvonne Marie Hopkins Cox of Tulsa; his children, Michael and Christine Hopkins and Kimberly Hopkins of Broken Arrow; his step-children, Donald and Carrie Gosnell of Owasso, Jake and Lindsay Luper of Adrian, Missouri, and Jordan Horn of Owasso; his grandchildren, Zachary, Austin, and Anthony Hopkins and Brianna, Bradley and Shelby Sellers of Tulsa; step-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Justin, April, Levi, Savannah, and Riley Gosnell of Owasso, Nichole and Jay Luper of Adrian, and Alayna Boyd and Karlie Horn of Owasso; and will be forever loved by many wonderful friends and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 12th, at Reynolds/Adams Crest Funeral Chapel.
