Joyce Marleane Whisman

Joy “Joyce” Whisman- McClelland was born on July 26th, 1935 in Tulsa, OK to Pearl and Glen Whisman.  She passed away on March 15th, 2017 at the age of 81.  She is preceded in death by her husband John J. McClelland and two children: Petey Robinson and Vicky Johnson and two grandchildren Brent Schockemoehl and Cindy Goff.  She is survived by two brothers: Harvey and Gene Whisman, her daughter: Cindy Schockemoehl, six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. 

She attended Sequoyah Elementary and Cleveland Junior High School in Tulsa, OK.  As a teenager she enjoyed working at Pennington’s Drive In.  She later became a cashier at Shell Oil Company.  She had a passion for traveling and camping.  She was lucky enough to visit 48 different states and among her favorite places were the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and the Redwood Forest.  She loved baking and was known for her famous pumpkin pie, chocolate chip cookies, and Twinkie casserole.  She also loved shopping and would always be on the look-out for unique gifts for her loved ones.  She loved animals and her favorite pet was her dear dog “Mokie.”  She valued honesty and had no problem letting people know her opinion.  She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
